Sustainability at The Paper Snowflake Co.
If we are going to talk about sustainability then we need to be honest. We’re only a very small business, and while our goals are about making a positive change, we know the actual, immediate impact we can make right now isn’t huge.
Our pledges are there because we have a genuine love for wildlife and the environment. We want to grow our business, but a business that is a sincere force for good, and one of those ways is try and give back what we can.
The Honest Challenges We Face
As you know, being sustainable isn’t easy, especially as we’re all trying to save money. We face the classic balancing act of keeping prices down, ensuring safe shipping (nobody wants damaged goods!), and making sure our products store well so that you can keep them longer.
Plastic packaging on some of our products currently still offers the best way to handle safe shipping, durability and keeping the costs down. Our Non-Negotiable Goals (Even if We’re Small!)
We might be small, but our goals are big. We’re constantly looking for new materials, new packaging and finding new supply chain solutions.
Ditching the Plastic
- Goal: Go 100% plastic-free across all our products and shipments.
- Target Date: Winter 2026.
Responsible Paper & Wood
We want to make sure the paper and wood materials we use don’t come at the expense of our forests.
- Goal: Ensure most, if not all, our products and packaging are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) which means they come from responsibly managed sources.
- Target Date: 2026.
Actively Reducing Our Footprint
We’re tackling the emissions generated from getting our products to you.
1. Smarter Shipping, Less Carbon
We’re looking at making some logistical changes and finding greener ways to move our snowflakes. Our aim is to slash our carbon emissions from shipping and supply chain activity in 2026.
2. Our Partnership with Ecologi
To amplify our small efforts, we’ve teamed up with Ecologi to help fund large-scale, verified tree planting climate projects globally. Ecologi are the UK’s most trusted climate action platform, please do check out their amazing work.
Thanks to the support of customers like you, we’re proud to say we’ve already funded the planting of 6,000 trees across 18 projects in reforestation and conservation areas.
